Nothing wants you to talk to your earbuds' charging case | The Verge
Introduction

Nothing’s latest earbuds, the Ear (3), mark a meaningful upgrade from their predecessors. They bring refinements in sound, materials, and especially call clarity. If you’ve been thinking about wireless earbuds that do more than just play music — being good in windy, noisy environments, offering hi-res audio, and doing it in a stylish package — this might be the one.

Pros & Cons (Human Insight)

What’s Good:

  • Much better mic quality with the case acting as a “Super Mic” — useful in noisy or windy settings.

  • Solid improvements in build quality (recycled aluminium), transparency design, and premium feel.

  • Hi-res audio support (LDAC) is now more compatible with many phones.

  • Battery improvements are nice; the fast-charging trick (10 minutes = ~10 hours under certain conditions) is very useful in emergencies.

  • Stylish design and functional add-ons like the Talk-button.

What Might Be Less Good:

  • With ANC + LDAC + “Super Mic” usage, battery drain will likely be more significant, so real day-to-day usage with all features on may give less than the “best case” numbers.

  • Transparency / ambient modes might still not feel as natural or effective in certain environments (crowds, wind) depending on seal and fit.

  • Price is up vs earlier Nothing Ear models, so it’s less a “value for budget” option and more premium mid-range / near high range.

  • Wireless charging is nice, but typically slower; expect full wireless charge to take longer.

  • If you already own Ear (2) or the “Ear” last model, the upgrades are incremental (mic, driver size, build), so might not justify cost for some.

Potential Price in Pakistan & Buying Tips

I couldn’t find a confirmed official retail price for the Ear (3) in Pakistan at time of writing, but we can estimate based on global price + typical import / duty / VAT / retailer markup.

  • If global price is USD 179, converting (with current exchange rates, import duty, VAT, shipping / retailer margin), you might expect something in the ballpark of PKR 40,000–PKR 50,000 (give or take) for a genuine import or grey-market unit.

  • Official / authorized stock tends to cost more, because of warranty + border duties + PTA / import formalities. If sold via official channels, add margin for warranty / service.

  • Be careful with non-authorized units: check warranty, authenticity, battery health, case condition.

  • Wait for local retailer pricing after launch date (often 1-2 weeks after global) to compare
